The Wonders of Urea

The Wonders of Urea

Whenever I discover something that is life-changing, I create a blog about it.
The purpose of this blog is to spread the good news to others who have suffered from dry skin, cracked heels, thick callouses, and have never found a solution.

Like me, you've probably spent a LOT of money trying various lotions, creams, oils on your hands, feet and skin.  Recently I visited a podiatrist and he told me there was a simple solution:  Buy some cream with urea in it - at least 40% urea.

A quick search on Amazon.com and on Ebay.com rendered immediate search results with exactly what the doctor ordered.  I ordered this gel cream on Ebay, and received it in a few days.  Within ONE application on my feet, my skin was INSTANTLY softer!

An internet search found this information about urea:

Urea naturally is found in the surface layer of the skin and is an active part of our natural moisturizing factor (NMF), which functions to keep skin hydrated, protected & working efficiently.

Urea’ helps the skin by maintaining a healthy moisture balance, keeps it soft, supple & youthful, and brings great needed relief to dry skin.  Urea is a humectant is referred to as hydroxyethyl.

Healthy skin  typically contain 28 micro grams of urea per square centimeter.  Dry, dehydrated skin contains around 50% less urea in the surface layer and in various skin conditions it contains much, much less.  For example, in eczema the skin may contain around 80% less urea.

Therre is evidence that urea helps treat ichthyosis, xerosis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), contact dermatitis, radiation induced dermatitis, psoriasisseborrheic dermatitisonychomycosis (a.k.a nail fungus), tinea pedis, keratosis, & pruritus.

Urea actually improves the skin's ability to create and to retain water which helps it re-hydrate.
Urea also has anti-itch properties.
Urea helps to accelerate the skin's cellular renewal process.
It strenghthen's the skin's barrier function.
Urea is a natural exfoliant and helps the skin to shed dead skin cells.
Urea has anti-microbial properties.

Urea can create a local anesthetic effect on the skin. This makes it a superb substance to use on sensitive skin.  It helps reduce cycles of inflammation and flare-ups.

Almost instantly after treating one's skin with urea, the skin visibly feels softer and gets a youthful glow to it!!!

Urea used in skin products is synthetically created in labs.

Urea decreases with age, making us more susceptible to dryness & wrinkles.

Above is another brand that has 40% urea and also contains salicylic acid.

You don't need to apply a whole lot of product. Rub in a thin layer to problem areas.

Clean the area to apply it to and dry.
Be sure you wash your hands before and after applying it.

There are products out there for the face and hands and elbows and other skin where you would NOT want to use 40% urea cream.
Products that contain 5% or 10% would be conservative.
Stronger percentage of urea = could irritate skin if thin and delicate skin.
Avoid use near eyes and mucus membranes and open cuts.

I will update this blog after using this products for a few weeks.
